The bargain was thus: Hell would create a great wound in the Astral Sea, a portal through which its bright light would spill and drive back the predators lurking in the shadows of shadows. It would provide the warmth required to support life. And in return, Rami would create a home and haven for Hell’s own people – the Tieflings- furthermore, the portal would require a sacrifice of souls in order to remain open. In order to safeguard the future of her own people, Rami would have to ensure that her eden was no utopia and that enough evil, war and discord would prevail to supply the souls necessary to keep the false-sun Knopsis alight.

Knopsis itself is a sentient force, and exerts the will and influence of Hell throughout the system, and is therefore rightly worshipped and venerated as a deity. Knopsis is the God of Light, an enabler of Life and protector from the darkness. It is also a God of War and Strife, igniting in mortal’s hearts the inspiration to undertake unspeakable acts in the name of supremacy and conquest. Under Knopsis’s withering glare, drought, heatwaves and fire cause devastation and famine, making it a God to fear as much as to love. Finally, as the destiny for evil souls, Knopsis is often called upon as a deity of Justice, Judgement and Law.
