The Maldekti are a mysterious species of humanoid marsupials heralding from a mysterious plane somewhere ‘down south’, which is an utterly meaningless direction to anybody else in the infinite expanse of the multiverse. Astro-cartographers have long sought to find the location of their homeland, but the Maldekti are unerringly coy about revealing it’s location. Indeed, no single Maldekti could, since the direction there is encoded within fragmented pieces of song, poetry, and art passed down between family lines. Finding their way back would require several clans coming together and joining their pieces of the puzzle back together, and retracing the path from the various clues.
Maldekti love food, and for them, it forms the bedrock of their culture. Many have an abiding addiction to shellfish. They travel far and wide collecting ingredients and recipes for all manner of meals, beverages, and snacks. For some, this compulsion leads them to follow their stomachs into ever more dangerous terrain in search of mythical flavours and additives. Unsurprisingly, their expertise in blending and concocting reagents of all kinds lends them to produce famed chefs, herbalists, and potion-crafters.

Epicurean Culture: Thanks to your culture’s emphasis on cookery, you gain proficiency in one of the following tools: Cooks Utensils, Herbalism Kit, Brewers Supplies, or Poisoner’s Kit.
Ironbark Gut: You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage.
Forager: Whenever you make a Survival (Wisdom), Medicine (Wisdom), or Nature (Intelligence) check to discover the edibility or other effects of food or other natural ingredients, you are considered proficient in that skill, and double your proficiency bonus to the check, instead of your normal proficiency bonus.
Carapace Crackers: Your molars are evolutionarily adapted to snap through the toughest shells or bones the multiverse has to offer. When you hit with it, the strike deals 1d6 + your strength modifier bludgeoning damage.
