A realm of Life and Legends
Ciora is located on the Plane of the Stellowyrms within a region of space where the Shadowfell and the Feywild are particularly close, these play a important part in the regulation of life in the setting. Ciora blesses the surface of the world with life by channeling aqua vitae through the Feywild, which regulates its distribution through the movement of the seasons. As the rain falls, it cleanses the world, washing the spirits of the dead from their graves into the Shadowfell, where it becomes the River of Death.
The following broad periods in history can be demarked by scholars, although since no common calendar or reckoning of time exists in Ciora, only estimates of relative length are possible. Events in the deep past are likely to be products of both myth and fact.
The Plague Wastes of the Utrian Isles
Elvish Domains of Akharb, Khiz, and Aethe
Numerous Gods and God-like creatures are worshipped to varying degrees by the people of Ciora, but most adhere to the teachings of one of two systems of beliefs, or pantheons, The Mortadei (The Ancestors) or The Vizest (The Great Spirits). Broadly speaking, these two pantheons represent on one hand, the tenacity of civilisation, and the rivalries (wars) between them that drive them ever forward to greatness built upon the works, sacrifice and wisdom of the forebears; and on the other, the primal forces of nature, against whom we simultaneously cower in fear, struggle against, and live in harmony with.
