All are free to invent, but invention isn’t free.

The act of creation is imbued in the spirit of all things on the Moons, but while Rami created out of love for their people, people tend to create out of a love for money. Therefore, it is of no surprise that the concept of “property rights” did not originate in any holy text or prophetic dream, but rather out of the need to stop people stabbing other people over the right to have an idea, pull it from the forge, and get paid for it too. The League of Makers was originally a company of Dwarves who fulfilled that very purpose amongst their own Makers, but convenience quickly led them to expand their services and reach across each and every Moon.

The League now operates as a certifier of crafters and inventors of all kinds. They describe and verify all major works associated with painters, jewellers, and the like, ensuring that anything bought and sold under a master’s name can be traced. By issuing patents and certificates for the Journeyman or Master of Trade, they offer confidence for the buyer of products and their inventors alike that coin is fairly traded for quality goods, and that counterfeits can be identified. This makes them an incredible archive of cultural and technical information – but not one that can be accessed as easily as a public library. For they have a monopoly on certain types of knowledge, and the power it brings.

The faction leader of the League of Makers is the Grandmaster of Trades, and under their authority, the Guildhalls, run largely by Archivists for the benefit of the members (the accredited artisans, crafters, and inventors).
