It must be so lonely out there...
A critical departure from vanilla DnD 5e is that ‘race’ is not the sole determinant of your starting abilities and aptitudes in the Moons of Rami. Rather, you will gain some advantages and disadvantages from your biology, but everything you learn is largely up to where you grew up.
The general formula is:
Rami, the Gas Giant orbiting the star Knopsis. To the people of this setting, Rami and Knopsis are the chief Gods of the pantheon with conflicting and sometimes contradictory interpretations. To some, Knopsis is the life-giver, to others it is the fierce surface of hell, an eternal place of punishment – both are true, for there must be fuel to burn in order for the great order to be sustained. To some, Rami is the creator and protector, to others it is the source of evil – both are true, for one cannot raise a shield to the furnace of the sun without creating a shadow for those from cold depths of space to hide as well.
The Moons of Rami in order of ascending orbit are:
A number of groups hold significant sway and influence throughout the system of Rami, each of them pursuing their goals through a healthy mix of virtuous and nefarious means. The factions that are described here are in addition to, or expand upon, those described in the summary of peoples.
Barbarian: Path of the Volcano
Monk: Way of the Fang and Claw
The two great celestial bodies – Rami and Knopsis – loom large in the hearts and minds of all peoples scattered across the moons. Therefore they are the most widely worshipped first and foremost amongst all deities and sacred beings, although not always equally. The high elves who are ever bathed in the warm furious light of Knopsis have little but courteous irreverence for Rami. Conversely the Drow who’s skies are eternally dominated by the great visage of Rami and spend no time in its cold shadow hold it as the most sacred symbol of their nation and cause.
